Choosing a camping/backpacking stove isn't an easy task as you have to consider not only the type of stove you wish to use, but the brand and fuel that the stove uses. In this article, we look at the most common stove types in the UK. 

BioEthanol Liquid, in our opinion, is the best fuel for use in alcohol camping stoves. There are alternative fuels that can work in camping stoves, although none are as powerful or clean as bioethanol.

Here at Ekofuel we have developed a denatured alcohol that can be used in both indoor ethanol fireplaces and outdoor camping stoves. As part of the development of our biofuel, we decided to test its performance on the long-established Trangia.

The European legislation around Methylated spirit, the fuel traditionally used for alcohol camping stoves in the UK, changed as of July 2013. It was deemed unsafe because of its high methanol content.
